As part of our learning about Armistice Day we are making a poppy wreath which we will take into our whole school assembly on Monday. We cut out poppies and wrote a message to the soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom. Next we will glue the poppies onto the wreath to take into assembly where we will have a minutes silence to remember those who died for us.
This week class 1 have been reading Allan Ahlberg’s ‘Funnybones’ story. Today they re-told the story of Funnybones whilst painting.

Today we learned to write the grapheme ‘e’. We had to think carefully where to start the grapheme as we wrote it. Then we said the phoneme.

Every Friday is Farming Friday in Class 1. We think about planting, growing and cooking and how this can help us develop our brain health. Today we planted bulbs ready to give our parents at Christmas. We looked at the shape of the bulb, talked about which way it should be planted and what it needed for healthy growth. Have you planted any bulbs this autumn?
This afternoon we explored our log area. We began to learn how to climb, crawl, balance and walk on the logs. It was great fun but very hard. Lots of us were very nervous but had a go at this new challenge. What new challenges have new taken part in today?
Today some of the children have been replanting their bean seedlings into bigger pots so they can grow nice and tall. The children have made sure the plants have got the right amount of soil and water to grow healthily.
Today in class 1 children have been looking at rhyming couplets. The pupils had to look at a word and think of a word that rhymes with it. Some children went out in groups to look at rhyming cards to support them. How many words can you think of which rhyme with ‘hat’?
Today in class 1 the children have been looking at halving sets of stones. The children had 10 or more stones and they had to put them into two equal groups. The children then tried to use words such as ‘equal’, ‘the same’,and ‘halving’ in their explanation. How would you calculate half of 20?
