Planting Potatoes.

Today was Farming Friday and we planted potatoes for our outdoor area. We will harvest the potatoes near Christmas. Have you planted any winter vegetables yet?

Matching.

Class 1 are learning to match. This week we have learned to match. We matched bears and talked about their size and colour. Can you think of times when you have to use your matching skills?

Phonics.

We are learning to write our name. We have practised scribing each grapheme and have begun to learn to use our new name cards. We have written our name using chalks, paint and water, coloured pens, pencils and crayons. We have also used gloop! Can you write your name yet?

Learning To use Mobilo.

This week we are learning to use equipment in our new class. Today we used mobilo, fixing pieces together and making our own models. Then we explored using work cards where we matched pieces and made a model. It was great fun and we were very proud of our models. Can you think of other equipment we could learn to use to make models?

Helping Each Other.

We know it is important that we become independent learners. Today we practised helping each other rather than asking an adult. How have you helped someone today?

Learning To Use Hoops.

We had great fun today learning to use the hoops. We had to ‘wiggle’ our hips side to side and try to keep the hoop rotating. Can you hola hoop?

Thinking Carefully…

Today we used the peg boards to create pictures. We had to really concentrate when picking the small pegs up and placing them in holes in the peg board. Then we counted pegs and talked about different colour pegs we had used.

Temporal Connectives

We used Book Creator on the iPads to write the story of Dogger. 

We took photos of our paintings to make the front cover then used the keypads to write, remembering to use temporal connectives to start our sentences. Which temporal connectives can you suggest we use?

Library Time.

We went to our library today to read a story. We really enjoy visiting our school library. How many books have you read in the library this term?

Child Initiated Learning!

During child initiated learning we began to explore the areas in our learning environment. We chose what we wanted to learn, say how we were going to achieve our task and then prove it. What challenges would you like to tackle during a child initiated learning session?
